Old nursery rhymes are always really weird, maybe because the context for them has been lost, and maybe because the language is a bit different, but seriously, “four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie?” Why? And these are obviously live birds, too, because they fly out of the pie when it’s served. What the heck, medieval England?
