Be Yourself

As an introvert, "being myself" usually consists of not talking very much and not involving myself in very many social situations. It seems that people think I would do better in these situations if I would just "relax" or "be myself" or "come out of my shell" or whatever phrase they want to use, all of which really mean "be more like me." This, of course, leads to me wanting to be in social situations even less. At no point in this process, however, do they seem to want to find out what "myself" really is, and let me actually be it. I wish I, like Clarence, had realized this a lot sooner.
