This has nothing to do with Halloween, though it might seem like it. I just happened to read about vampire finches last night and decided to make a comic about it. They currently only live on the Galapagos islands, they only feed on other birds, and blood isn't necessarily a major part of their diet, but it's still a creepy thing to imagine. Also, I have no idea whether or not a mockingbird would eat dog food, but they eat pretty much anything, so I don't think it's too much of a stretch.
