Mimus polyglottos is, of course, the scientific name for the Northern Mockingbird. There are many other types of mockingbirds, but only the Northern Mockingbird is a polyglot.
I do wonder what kind of names that birds would give themselves. I guess they would only use them when speaking their own language. When translating their speech into English, as this strip does, they have to use the names that we have given them.
