After much thought, though I admit not much study, my answer is the same as Lewis. The emergence of chickens and eggs was probably a very long-term process, so if you take the question literally, it’s actually very difficult to say scientifically. Also, normally in the question “the egg” represents evolution and “the chicken” represents creation, though it seems that a creative deity could certainly have created an egg first for the first chicken to hatch from.
