As revealed in the very first Bird Feeder strip, Darryl has two adopted children, a blue jay and a titmouse, due to Edna’s colorblindness. The more I actually think about that strip, the less it actually makes sense, but there are all kinds of things that are only funny if you don’t think about them (like most of my jokes).
