I do have a beard, and the entire reason why I have it is to look and feel cooler than I really am. It's also useful to stroke when I'm thinking deeply about something, and it keeps my mind off of the fact that the hair on the top of my head is retreating swiftly. I imagine that birds might have some kind of interest in fashion or looking cool, given the number of males with ostentatious plumage. Still, for them it's something they're born with and have to utilize the way it is. I'm sure they'd love to be able to have different designs or different colors from time to time.
